and sane trick-or-treating at the Parks and Recreation Departments Halloween
celebration on the wharf. Treats for kids provided at wharf businesses. A costume
contest from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. and a photo booth at the wharf stage are all part

thrill the audience, along with storytellers, martial arts demonstrations and
healing arts vendors. Sushi, noodles and green tea ice cream are always favorites.

Cruz Wharf The scenic Santa Cruz Wharf is the perfect setting for a celebration
of the surf spirit and classic surf wagons. More than 200 pre-1950s "woodies"
line the wharf. Music, T-shirts, memorabilia and prize drawings will add to the
fun. Presented by the Santa Cruz Woodies. Co-sponsored by O'Neill, the Wharf Association

Cost: FREE ATTENTION ARTISTS The Art on the Wharf summer
art show is an opportunity to display and sell your work while enjoying the ocean
view and live jazz music at the wharf stage. Show date is Sunday July 19, 2009.
All fine art and crafts (including but not restricted to), paintings, printmaking,
drawings, photography, ceramics and sculpture is welcome. Commercially produced
or imported items are not accepted. Artists must provide their own displays. Applications

of artists display original paintings, photography and other works in an outdoor
showcase of fine art and live jazz. The kids will enjoy balloons, print making

Cost: FREE ENTER A TEAM IN THE ALOHA CELEBRITY RACES! These
short course outrigger races set for Sunday, August 16, 2009 are designed
especially for new or novice paddlers. You provide four people and we will provide
a stroker, steersperson, canoe and instruction to start you racing. The $80.00
entry fee ($100.00 beginning August 1) includes 4 T-shirts. 1st - 3rd place teams
will receive awards. Proceeds benefit the Pu Pu O'Hawaii Outrigger Canoe Club.
Entry forms will be available soon in the Parks and Recreation Office, 323 Church
Street. Applications for booth space available soon at the Polynesian Festival
for vendors, exhibitors, Polynesian cultural groups and ocean-related organizations.

CELEBRITY RACES & POLYNESIAN FESTIVAL Sunday, August 16, 2009
Races start 9 am Festival starts 11 am Santa Cruz Wharf Designed
especially for new and novice paddlers, the Celebrity races are a chance to discover
the excitement of outrigger canoe racing. Join the fun or cheer for friends in
the race. The Polynesian Festival follows with a taste of the tropics- fresh flower
leis, Hawaiian shaved ice, Maori face painting, print making and dance performances.
